Austin Clinic

CNS Austin features CNS’ unparalleled, interdisciplinary traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, with state-of-the-art equipment, dedicated physician spaces, specially equipped vans to transport patients to and from treatment, and more. Ideally located, the facility itself allows for easy access to the surrounding area. Patients will work toward maximizing their independence in a city with many great qualities.

  • Treating all types of acquired and traumatic brain injury

  • Programs offered: Adult Postacute Inpatient RehabilitationAdult Postacute Day Treatment, Adolescent Program, Continued Care and Telerehabilitation

  • Therapy offered: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, educational therapy, vision therapy, vestibular therapy, cognitive therapy, patient and family counseling, neurobehavioral rehabilitation, and complimentary integrative therapy 

  • Services offered: nursing, disease management, family-oriented education; community re-entry assistance, home evaluations, medical coordination, case management, patient education classes

  • Medical oversite by a physician and neurologist. CNS consultant physicians/physiatrists carry a significant amount of responsibility for program review and approval. In addition, CNS utilizes services of other medical specialists in the community

  • State-of-the-art rehabilitation: ZeroG Gait and Balance System, for balance and gait improvement; a mobile interactive metronome; Bioness Integrated Therapy System (BITS), utilized to address vision, motor and balance training; Independent Living Scale tracking system to monitor patient progress; tablets to record/integrate patient data in real time for analysis; patient web portal for 24/7 secure access; a dedicated physician space including a medical exam room, secure medication room, and a nursing suite; an area for behavior analysis including a meditation/quiet room; patient and staff kitchen; computer center, and offices for case management and administrative functions

Austin Residence

In our Austin inpatient program, patients will focus on relearning Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and rebuilding skills for independence in the clinical setting during the day and at the residence at night and on weekends. In this safe, supportive environment, patients will practice and master basic skills needed for life after rehabilitation. They will reestablish daily schedules and living patterns with dedicated staff present around the clock. Located in the Lakeway area of Austin, the spacious house has six private bedrooms, four baths, and can accommodate up to six patients. The house features a full service kitchen and proximity to shopping, parks, cultural attractions, and places of worship. Our community-based residential settings encourage socialization through group events such as movies, game nights, trips to the grocery store, and other activities that foster reintegration–an essential component of brain injury rehabilitation.

  • Private rooms for up to six patients

  • Security camera system inside the residence in common areas

  • Locked drawers and cabinets in common areas to control medication access/distribution

  • ADA-compliant design

  • Safety railing in bathrooms

  • Trained CNS staff on site 24 hours a day
