Redefining What’s Possible in Recovery
At CNS, we believe that patients don’t plateau. Regardless of the diagnosis or perceived setbacks, with hard work and the right support, improvement is possible. From the moment you reach out to us, we become your advocate on this recovery journey, providing the tools and encouragement needed to regain independence and prepare for life beyond CNS.
Whether the journey includes a single program or multiple stages, our dedicated team offers personalized care that addresses the physical, cognitive, and emotional aspects of recovery. Wherever the journey takes you, CNS is committed to fostering progress, restoring dignity, and empowering patients to rebuild their lives.
Rehabilitation at CNS begins with an evaluation. This includes discussion of medical/neurological issues that cover cognition, memory, language skills, upper/lower extremity function, balance, and psychosocial issues.
Our admissions staff has helped thousands of families admit patients who have endured a brain injury into our state-of-the-art facility. This wealth of knowledge and experience allows them to facilitate a seamless transition into CNS. They’re dedicated to communicating with all those involved, fostering alignment and a shared purpose.
CNS provides rehabilitation every hour, every day, by reinforcing skills across residential and clinical facilities through staff collaboration and dedication to patient progress. Patients reside in CNS residential facilities and receive up to 6 hours of therapy, 5 days a week, in our state-of-the-art clinical settings. Simultaneously, our Neuro Rehabilitation Specialists provide residential care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, rebuilding what we call “the natural rhythm of living.” Patients are transported between the CNS residences and the clinic by our certified Transportation Services Department.
Our programs maximize treatment effect in real-world settings, empowering patients to enjoy dignified, productive lives. CNS helps patients regain independence through community reintegration and learn vital life skills that foster self-sufficiency.
CNS staff members partner with families and caregivers to provide clarity and progress across the clinical and home setting. People reside at home and commute to CNS to receive therapy up to 5 days a week, 6 hours a day, in the clinical setting. Independence, life skills, and new behaviors are practiced at home with loved ones, restoring dignity in their home community.
The Adolescent Brain Injury Program at Centre for Neuro Skills is designed to help young patients regain independence, rebuild skills, and reintegrate into their home and school environments. With a focus on real-world application, adolescents receive therapy in state-of-the-art clinical settings. Our dedicated team, including therapists and educators, collaborates closely to reinforce learning, adaptive behaviors, and developmental skills. Through structured therapy, school reintegration support, and family education, Centre for Neuro Skills provides a comprehensive rehabilitation program that empowers young patients to thrive.
The impact of brain injury can change family and personal dynamics, and new realities can overwhelm a patient’s sphere of support. These demands may require ongoing care after active therapy because patients may not be ready to return to life post injury. Also, families may need help managing physical limitations, behavioral issues, and medical complexity. Centre for Neuro Skills recognizes these needs and offers a comprehensive care program to follow active therapy. We call it our Continued Care Program.
CNS Continued Care offers Assisted Living, Residential, and Supported Living options. In each setting, our highly trained staff members ensure that critical life skills regained in active therapy are practiced and, where possible, improved.
CNS's intensive, goal-oriented therapy focuses on rebuilding vital skills like ambulation, speech, behavior, and self-care, tailoring treatment to each patient's needs. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, therapies promote independence and real-world application, laying the foundation for community reintegration and productive lives.
From their first encounter with us, patients and their loved ones know that CNS has given consideration and forethought to the help they will need on the journey of rehabilitation. Brain injury is complex, and the services offered at all our locations have a primary objective: to help patients and families navigate the many aspects of treatment from admission to discharge and beyond. At each stage of recovery, our experienced, compassionate staff members provide renowned care in a multidisciplinary program.
Renowned for its comprehensive treatment, CNS provides intensive, goal-oriented, multidisciplinary programs in facilities located throughout California and Texas. Staffed by trained, certified professionals, CNS treats a wide range of traumatic and acquired brain injury, including traumatic brain injury, mild traumatic brain injury, and stroke. In addition, CNS can tailor treatment for COVID-19 patients who present with neurological symptoms or diagnoses appropriate for our level of care.
For many people who endure a brain injury, the very fabric of their being is subjected to a sudden upheaval. Physical and emotional stability is impacted. The rhythm of life is temporarily or permanently altered. It can devastate a person’s life and disrupt family, work, and interaction with the world. CNS understands these realities and provides effective, comprehensive programs that treat all types of traumatic and acquired brain injuries.
Stroke is consistently one of the leading causes of death in the United States, is a major cause of adult disability, and appears in a vast spectrum of people. It can be caused by substance abuse, stress, cardiac conditions, genetic abnormalities, and medical comorbidities. When treated with individualized therapies and goal-oriented programs, the effects of stroke can be overcome. CNS focuses on rebuilding life skills, helping people to walk, speak, work, reason, and function in the world again.
The onset and consequences of a concussion and mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) can be easily missed by the injured person, their loved ones, and physicians. Whether the cause is a sports injury, a fall, or a work accident, Centre for Neuro Skills has the expertise to identify and treat this type of malady. Our experienced therapists can identify the subtleties of concussion and MTBI, which may not be known immediately after an incident. Often, returning to sports or active work exacerbates the injury, and individuals frequently ignore physical signs that should be addressed. The real harm may not be obvious, yet mysterious and frustrating issues can surface that can lead to a spiral of dysfunction. Since its inception in 1980, CNS has treated concussion and MTBI in professional athletes, students injured in school sports, and workers’ compensation patients who have been hurt on the job.
CNS can tailor treatment for post-COVID-19 patients who experience neurological complications as a result of the virus. These can include stroke, encephalitis, and respiratory distress. Comorbidities related to severe COVID-19 can also be addressed in tandem with neurorehabilitation offered at CNS. Cognitive impairment, memory loss and attention deficits can be associated with infection and are core components of care at all facilities.
Reintegration is a core objective for each patient. In the clinic and in CNS residences, therapists focus on skills that ease the transition to home, work, and interfacing with the public. CNS will also help patients practice reentry skills in real-world settings.
Once rehabilitation is complete, patients reach an impressive milestone in their journey at CNS–being discharged from their treatment program. The process is momentous, as patients often feel a great sense of achievement. In many cases, they have bonded with others, including fellow patients, physicians, therapists, clinical aides, and support staff. Families may also have developed close ties with staff members who have helped patients relearn vital life skills.
