BIAA Organization

Advancing Awareness, Promoting Advocacy for Patients

Advocating for patients and educating the public about brain injury are among the many reasons that Centre for Neuro Skills (CNS) is involved with the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA). Influential and visionary, this national organization has objectives that align with fundamental CNS beliefs. These include:

  • Increasing awareness and understanding of brain injury

  • Improving care and support for individuals with brain injury and their families

  • Committing resources necessary to deliver valued programs and services

  • Encouraging the involvement of researchers, clinicians, and the public in advancing knowledge of brain injury

CNS has an established history with BIAA, providing funding, sharing the work of our researchers, and participating/sponsoring its conferences, events, and fundraisers. David Harrington, President and CEO of CNS, and Dr Brent Masel, Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs, are on the Board of Directors. Both have contributed their professional expertise and executive guidance to BIAA. CNS’ considerable brain trust of clinicians and thought leaders has also presented at BIAA conferences, helping to broaden public and professional awareness of rehabilitation.

Together, CNS and BIAA are forces that have partnered in a common goal: to improve the lives of people who have endured brain injury. Equally important, the two entities have supported legislation that promotes appropriate, complete care. With advocacy, education, and a shared interest in research and education, CNS and BIAA are shaping the narrative of brain injury.
